The MPF European Practice Management Awards is the only competition to focus on the contribution of different disciplines to managing a professional firm.

Practice Management Awards were first introduced by the MPF in 2002 to showcase the contribution of different disciplines (marketing, HR, technology, finance, facilities, KM etc) in managing a professional firm. In October 2010, Joel Barolsky, Principal of Beaton, will be presenting the Professional Services Management subject as part of the Melbourne Law Masters program at the University of Melbourne.

Why is the subject being offered?

Most legal and professional service practitioners take on more managerial and leadership responsibilities as they progress in their careers. A significant part of Partner or In-house Executive’s role is about leading others, managing clients, coordinating resources and supervising operations. This subject is aimed at giving lawyers and other professional specialists further insights, conceptual frameworks and practical tools in the disciplines of management.

Beaton has recently joined forces with Managing Partners’ Forum (MPF), a London based body in an initiative to bring together leaders of professional bodies worldwide to tackle barriers to effective management through campaigns and other activities. Professional Body Leaders, an elite and closed LinkedIn group was formed for the purpose of this initiative.

Professional Body Leaders is an elite group for CEOs of professional bodies. We seek to facilitate knowledge sharing and networking among professional bodies on a global scale. The collective expertise of CEOs of professional bodies from around the world will grow cross-cultural knowledge, enable exchange of ideas, challenges and experiences, encourage benchmarking amongst professional bodies and provide opportunities to improve and develop best practice.
